About SumiBall

SumiBall is made with high-grade organic charcoal, made from sustainable sources of Japanese Cypress and Cedar harvested during essential forestry management. The charcoal is encased in a honeycomb ceramic shell, available in a variety of colours including natural, peach, terracotta, chalk, black and pastel blue, which can be used alone or in combination to make attractive and creative displays.

How it works

Just like a water filter in your home, the active core of each Sumi traps unwanted bacteria which cause unsightly algae, unpleasant odours and plant disease. SumiBall is made with high-grade activated charcoal from sustainable sources of cedar and cypress, recognised as a highly effective anti-bacterial filter. The charcoal traps compounds such as formaldehyde and ammonia in a complex microscopic lattice, reduces acidity to a pH of around 6.5, and absorbs liquid to approximately 70% of its volume for slow release direct to roots. SumiBall has a ceramic shell for easy handling, and the shape increases both growing space and oxygenation.
